New Partnership Between EO and Horizon Energy Ventures to Expand the UK’s eBus Infrastructure
Kicking Off in London with Transport UK, with Ambitions to Scale Across the UK
London, UK, 24th, July 2025 – EO Charging ("EO"), a global leader in electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions for depot-based fleets — including commercial light vehicles (LCVs), electric buses and electric trucks — has partnered with Horizon Energy Ventures ("HEV") to jointly deliver fully funded sustainable energy infrastructure projects, accelerating the expansion of the UK’s public transport fleets.
As the UK bus market rapidly electrifies, operators require alternative consumption models — including scalable, fully funded infrastructure solutions. EO and HEV are committed to delivering offerings that align with customers’ operational and financial needs. A joint multi-million-pound investment will accelerate the rollout of EO’s Charging-as-a-Service ("CaaS") model — an end-to-end EV infrastructure solution that removes upfront cost barriers through a flexible monthly payment plan. The service is underpinned by EO’s Charge Assurance platform, which actively manages operators' energy and flexibility needs while ensuring business-critical fleet outcomes. It guarantees vehicle readiness, uptime, and availability, making the transition to electric vehicles more accessible and financially sustainable.
London leads the UK in EV adoption, operating one of Europe’s largest electric bus fleets, with over 1,400 battery electric vehicles and a full transition planned by 2034. However, this rapid growth demands scalable, high-performance charging solutions and substantial investment. EO has already played a key role in electrifying many of London’s transport depots, working with partners such as Go-Ahead and Transport for London to develop tailored infrastructure. Through this new partnership, EO and HEV will further support London’s transition to a zero-emission transport network.
EO will bring multiple new Transport UK depots onto its Charge Assurance platform. The integration will enhance visibility, operational reliability, and efficiency across London’s public transport network.
Additionally, with HEV's support, EO will accelerate the deployment of its CaaS model, which simplifies fleet electrification by providing an end-to-end solution that combines hardware, software, and maintenance into a single monthly fee — eliminating the need for upfront capital investment. By streamlining the transition to electric fleets, EO’s CaaS platform offers operators a clear and accessible path to a zero-emission future.
We’re thrilled to have completed our first investment into UK’s eBus infrastructure, beginning in London, by supporting Transport UK in its journey towards a fully decarbonised fleet. We look forward to working with EO on this project, exploring new investment opportunities in the sector, and funding other fleet operators committed to the roll-out of EV charging and other low-carbon infrastructure—both in the capital and across the UK.
David Freeder, Head of Investment at Horizon Energy Ventures
This new strategic partnership with Horizon Energy Ventures reflects EO’s commitment to making fleet electrification more accessible and seamless for businesses across the UK.
Richard Staveley, CEO, EO Charging, said: “We’re delighted to partner with Horizon Energy Ventures to support the transition to zero-emission fleet transportation. This joint investment will accelerate our Charging-as-a-Service model, offering fully funded solutions that make fleet electrification more accessible.”
Richard added:
“We’re already delivering our Charging-as-a-Service solution, underpinned by our Charge Assurance platform, in London for Transport UK, and we are proud to support their ongoing electrification programme. With over 200 EV fleet projects delivered across the UK and Europe, EO’s end-to-end expertise ensures we provide the infrastructure and service our customers need to scale and achieve key business outcomes. We remain committed to accelerating London’s journey to a greener future.”
