Important Service Update: EO Mini Pro 2

As the EV industry continues to evolve rapidly with new standards and innovations, staying aligned with these changes is essential. Today, we want to bring your attention to an important update regarding the EO Mini Pro 2 charger and associated EO Smart Home App.

The EO Mini Pro 2, which has served many EV drivers reliably, will soon reach its official End of Life (EOL). This decision follows the introduction of the UK Smart Charge Point Regulations in June 2022. As the EO Mini Pro 2 was designed before the regulations were introduced, the EO Mini Pro 2 no longer meets the necessary smart functionality requirements for sale or replacement in Great Britain (where the regulations apply). EO ceased the sale of the EO Mini Pro 2 product in Great Britain in November 2022 to comply with the new regulations, and we are now preparing to cease the service, repair, and replacement of installed units for all users worldwide. We are also preparing to discontinue the EO Smart Home App service. Below is a detailed overview of what existing users of this product can expect and how you can prepare.

What’s Changing and When?

From 30th November 2025, you will no longer be able to access or manage your EO Mini Pro 2 through the EO Smart Home App. This means that any existing smart charging schedules set via the app will be cleared and all devices will be automatically unlocked.

The good news is that your charger will still function as a basic plug-and-charge device and if your vehicle or energy provider offers an app, you may be able to schedule charging sessions using their platform. In this instance, your vehicle’s app would communicate with your vehicle to schedule charging sessions and your plug-and-play EO Mini Pro 2 device would provide the power (but offer no smart charging functionality).

From the 30th November 2025, we will no longer provide repair services, replacement parts, or software updates for the EO Mini Pro 2. Rest assured that any warranty coverage you have will remain valid until the end of this period. If you believe that your warranty will be valid beyond this date, we ask that you get in touch with our online support team at www.eocharging.com/support no later than Tuesday 5th August 2025. Our team will ask you to provide proof of purchase, your device’s serial number, and evidence of installation by a certified installer.

Understanding the UK Smart Charge Point Regulations

The UK government introduced the Electric Vehicles (Smart Charge Points) Regulations in 2022 to better manage electricity demand as the country transitions to electric mobility. These regulations make sure that all EV charge points sold for private use meet specific smart functionality standards, allowing consumers to charge vehicles when the grid is under less strain or when more renewable energy is available.

As the EO Mini Pro 2 was launched before these new regulations came into effect, it doesn't comply with the latest standards. This has led to our decision to discontinue the device as we focus on future-ready, smart-enabled products.

Please note that while these regulations apply to those who reside in Great Britain, as a company we have taken the decision to cease sales and services globally.
