EO Charging and Go-Ahead London Win EVIEs Award for Fleet Electrification Strategy of the Year (Under 100 Vehicles)
EO Charging and Go-Ahead London are proud to share their recognition at the 2024 EVIEs Awards for the Fleet Electrification Strategy of the Year (Under 100 Vehicles). This award celebrates their successful collaboration on the Croydon Bus Depot project, which has set a new standard for sustainable public transport.
“An innovative approach to a common problem faced by the sector. The project shows that a limited power supply does not have to halt electrification, delay the project or mean costly infrastructure upgrades,” said the EVIEs judging panel.
The project faced significant challenges, particularly a limited 1.5MW power supply, which could have constrained the depot's ability to operate an expanding electric bus fleet. EO Charging’s turnkey solution addressed these limitations head-on, introducing the EO Hub, an intelligent load management system that nearly doubled charging capacity without requiring costly power upgrades. By efficiently managing energy distribution across 12 high-power 180kW chargers, EO enabled Go-Ahead London to support 42 electric buses across key routes.
Aligned with London’s ambitious goal of achieving a fully electric bus fleet by 2030, this project demonstrates how collaboration, smart technology, and forward-thinking strategy can overcome infrastructure barriers. Beyond installation, EO’s 24/7/365 support ensures ongoing reliability and efficiency, enabling Go-Ahead London to focus on expanding its zero-emission operations.
This award-winning partnership demonstrates how the challenges of fleet electrification can be overcome, paving the way for a cleaner, greener future for public transport.
Charlie Jardine, Founder & President of EO Charging said: “As EV fleets mature, we have seen the challenges they are faced with when it comes to energy and load management requirements. This is why we have developed EO Hub, which is an onsite energy management system and supports fleet managers by automating energy distribution across the site. The first installation of EO Hub was at Go-Ahead Croydon with the aim to aid with restricted power on site, EO Hub provides effective load management distributing available energy across the fleet ensuring priority vehicles are charged and that site power capacity isn’t exceeded. EO Hub has enabled Go-Ahead Croydon to nearly double the number of electric buses operating on site by implementing effective load management. EO Hub is an intelligent solution that not only helps current electric fleet operators, but also those looking to transition their fleets to electric by mitigating the need to upgrade the grid connection, whilst reducing ongoing energy costs through smart charging.”
